🔸️Our heart is about the size of a fist! When we think about the heart muscle and its amazing structure and anatomy, we can't help but be amazed. 🔹️Did you know that the average 70 yr. old person's heart has already beat approximately 2,649,000,000 times? Just wait until you see what we discover about this wonderful organ. Students will uncover and learn about the following areas: ▪︎Main Parts of the Heart: Atria, Ventricle, Aorta, Valves, and Veins. ▪︎Ultrasound waves to visualize heart blood flow. ▪︎What is "oxygen-rich" and "oxygen poor" blood mean? ▪︎How does blood flow and why? 👉We will discover the structures through dynamic images and realistic simulations to explore this fascinating organ. There will be plenty of interaction and guided questions as we take our journey together. This active learning process helps students understand the anatomy and major processes involved. 🔸️At the end of our second class, we will play a game and compete against other students around the globe as a class. I will launch our Quizizz game to play together as a class. No need for any login or additional device. This is so much fun! ☆I will post a diagram for the students to bring to class for our second class. This will be posted in the classroom prior to our first meeting. We will label and color the diagram together. Students will view the diagram on-screen as we label various structures. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about the anatomical structure of the heart and gain an understanding of the blood flow of this amazing organ. They will truly be fascinated as we uncover together how it pumps independently.

over 2 WeeksLesson 1:
Getting to the Heart of It
As we begin our journey together we will have guided questions about this fascinating organ. Where is it located? How often does it pump? Where does the blood go? Learners will uncover many different facts about the heart as we take a journey together. We will learn about veins, arteries, valves, and chambers. I present this information with diagrams, discussion, simulations, and discovery.
40 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
Heart Diagram & Games of the Heart
In this session, learners will begin by labeling and coloring an uploaded diagram placed in the classroom. I will color and label on-screen as we discuss the pathway of circulation, valves, chambers, arteries, and veins. We will also play a fun Quizizz game to help solidify the concepts, which is the best way to wrap-up our circulation journey. *Learners won't need any additional device or program to play our game together as a class.

As a Registered Nurse who specialized in Cardiology for over 10 years, I've always been fascinated by the heart. This class gives me the opportunity to teach children about this organ and its significance in the body. I traveled many years in the field of Cardiac Consulting to assist with the implementation of Cardiac Surgery centers throughout the country. Bringing this learning opportunity to children is a passion of mine. Young learners are like a sponge and open to grasp complex anatomy when presented in this unique format. I truly enjoy seeing the children's expressions when they learn fun facts about the heart!

Review summary for this teacher
Based on the reviews, the teacher Rita seems to be an effective and engaging instructor for drawing classes. She is praised for her patience, kindness, and ability to create a supportive environment where students feel encouraged to explore their creativity. Students enjoy the variety of subjects covered and appreciate that Rita provides guidance while still allowing them to apply their own artistic styles. Her classes seem particularly well-suited for neurodivergent students and those who may be hesitant about their drawing abilities.
