US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
In this class, the students will actively be engaged in their learning. The students will learn about some of the clothing, foods, and items you may see if you lived in a colder climate where the snow may fall. The teacher has created 2 worksheets that will be uploaded for the caregivers. These can be printed for the student to use in class. One of the activity sheets will be to finish the pattern of items found in the winter season. The worksheet will have clothing, items associated with snow, and some foods are eaten or drank in the winter. The students will learn to verbally say the pattern out loud while we complete the missing pattern. The teacher will screen share both the worksheets and draw along with the students. Students will be given plenty of opportunities to be verbally engaged as well as physically engaged with their teacher-created activity sheets. The second activity sheet will be completing the patterns with letters of the alphabet that are used for the words winter and snow. The teacher will also clap a few patterns and have the students repeat the pattern. No prior knowledge is needed for this class.
Learning Goals
The students will learn some basic items associated with the winter season, especially if you live where the snow often falls. The students will learn how to complete different patterns by drawing the shapes of the food, clothing, or winter items. Students will complete patterns with some letters of the alphabet found in two winter words. The students will learn how to listen to a pattern that is clapped and repeat it if time allows.

Hello Parents and Caregivers!
I am very excited to be with Outschool and I would like to tell you a little about myself. I am honored that you took the time to read this information and are considering entrusting your learner in my classes. I taught in public schools for 27 years and for the last 3 years I have been teaching students ESL online all over the world. I am a certified and licensed teacher with a BS in Elementary Education and a concentration in early childhood. I taught all subjects in elementary classes K-6 but for more years in kindergarten-2nd grades. After I received my Master's Degree in Library Science and Information Skills, for the last 18 years in public education, I taught all grade levels from Preschool- 5th-grade. The students were taught reading and information skills, Internet Safety, and all about books. I checked out hundreds of books weekly while I was the media specialist-librarian.
I am certified and hold a TESOL Certificate from an International known school. I started working with English as Second Language (ESL) students when the university I attended allowed me to travel over a thousand miles to McAllen, Texas to do three weeks of student teaching in a bilingual school setting. I was able to teach many afterschool and summer programs with ESL students in the public school setting.
I am a patient and kind teacher and I love to praise and congratulate the students on all their successes in class. I endeavor to establish an atmosphere in my classroom that provides all students the following: they feel loved, and safe, and are with a teacher who sincerely cares about their education and learning. I have high expectations for all students. I do not put a lid on their learning and I try to take them as far as I can in my classes. I have witnessed many of my 3 and 4-year-olds after they complete my Preschool-Kindergarten Prep class, excel in their reading.
I love to teach children and share my passion for learning with these precious students. In my classes, the students will be involved in fun and engaging activities I have created and prepared. Whatever age group of children I am teaching, I try to instill in students a love for learning by creating an environment that is exciting and fun!
I have created the following classes with your children in mind! For a beginner reader who knows most letters and sounds, I recommend taking my ongoing courses in the following order starting with the first class below the Preschool and Kindergarten Preparation Class, unless this is the class you are looking for: (Feel free to copy and paste the class information below or you can go directly to the class links). I hope to see your child in one of my classes!

A comprehension activity is sent to the families after the lesson has been taught. The parent has the option to print and use this to reinforce the learning of the vocabulary from the lesson.
This class is often taken after the above Short Vowels CVC word families class but is not required.

6. High-Frequency Sight words class (Level 1): In this class, the students do a lot of independent reading. We cover 5 of the 100 High-Frequency Sight words weekly. I do not do the reading for the students like in the Preschool & Kindergarten Preparation class. I try to let the strongest readers lead the sentences but I will help correct pronunciation and help with words if they need me to. This is a very popular class.
