Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 5
In this class we are going to talk about the differences between circles and shapes with vertexes (corners). We will learn the meaning of the words: radius, diameter, circumference, and pi. Learners will learn how to find the radius, diameter, and circumference.
Learners will receive some lecture instruction; they will also participate in activities to help them practice finding these new terms. Learners will receive a handout so that they can do some measuring, drawing the radius and diameter, and calculating the circumference of the circle.
Learners will have fun interacting with their teacher and other classmates.
Learners will benefit from a knowledge of multiplication and division. It is also necessary for learners to have a whiteboard/paper and a marker/pencil; they should also print off the handout and bring it to class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, my name is Parri!
I am so excited to be teaching with Outschool. I hope to teach classes in Phonics, Math, Art, and Sea Glass.
I have been teaching for 28 years; I taught for 25. 5 years in a Brick and Mortar school and for 2.5 years online. I have taught Reading, Language, Phonics, Literature, Spelling, Math, Social Studies, Canadian Studies, and Science. I LOVE teaching Phonics and Reading. Online I have been teaching children ages 4-14 to speak English. I also do tutoring with these ages and in these subjects both online and in person.
I believe teaching should be fun and at the same time assist students to reach their highest potential. I like to teach using games and activities that encourage learning in a fun way! I want my students to know I care about them and their learning.
One of the first classes I hope to teach is one about Sea Glass; I LOVE the beach. Since I was a child, I have been roaming beaches looking for sea glass; I also love making things with the glass too!
I look forward to meeting your child and having lots of fun learning together!
