Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
Do you have a passion for history? Do you love learning unusual and odd historical facts? Each week we will learn about 7-15 different people or events from history that happened this week. This will cover both world and American history, both modern and ancient. We will look at events that made history, such as the moon landing or the Challenger Space Shuttle explosion, to people and pop culture. (What was the war of 1812? Who invented the frisbee? When did the first Barbie Doll go on sale? Who was Junko Tabei?) We will discuss what impact each of these events made on history and how are viewed or have influence society today. In this class, discussions between learners in the chat box are encouraged.

This is a subscription class, which means:
            - Each week is an independent class. You pay for each week that you would like to join. You can pay for each week that you choose to attend class. There is no start or end date, so feel free to come and go as your schedule dictates.
            - There is no set course list. The topics for each week will vary.
             - As this is a weekly subscription class, there are no homework classes. Each class will consist of a powerpoint lecture, some videos, and a brief history about the field or time period. Students are encouraged to communicate and discuss topics through the chat box. Questions are also encouraged, so we may go off on (relatable) tangents This is a class where students can learn and share their thoughts and opinions about history. Discussions are kept at an age appropriate level, but as this is a history class, some discussions or questions may arise about war, violence, racism, sexism, and discrimination.

This class is offered multiple times throughout the week. Please check calendar for available dates and times.

THIS CLASS IS 45-55 MINUTES LONG. CLASS LENGTH IS DEPENDENT ON NUMBER OF STUDENTS AND LENGTH OF DISCUSSION.
