Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 7
Welcome!
In this class we are going to cover super fun trivia and information about things that happened on this week in history. This could be anything from a year ago or 500 years ago! This class will help your learner develop cultural literacy. We will have a wide date range and a wide range of topics every class. Depending on the topics and how interested students are we could possibly cover 3-10 topics per class. Examples of topics we may cover includes nature, STEM, world history, environment, sports, pop culture and war/battles. When you join class there will also be an optional work sheet students can bring to class to take notes and answer questions with.

We will cover a wide range of topics each class. Each of these topics will be presented and discussed in an age appropriate way. I will be using open ended questions to encourage conversation. Opinions are welcome in our open discussion but students must bekind and respectful to others. The goal of this class is to expose students to wider outside world, making learning fun, learn new things and have healthy discussion.

There is no long term weekly topic list for this class as each week is based on over 1000 years of history. However, a few days before each class I will be posting different things that we will be discussing in class. Parents/Guardians: If you have any questions about the topics once they are posted please feel free to message me.

Week of June 2-8: Queen Elizabeth, Madden Football, Mars mission experiment, Hot air balloons, Treasure hunters, Crossing the Atlantic, Legoland,

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have previously taught history/social studies/world events to young learners. While the topics we cover will mostly be light there may be times when heavier topics may briefly arise. Conversations will be kept to an age appropriate level and because of time limitations questions may be referred back to the grown ups in the home. However, conversations will always be well rounded and discussed from everyone's point of view. If questions arise I will make sure to get students to consider both sides of the situation and what each group of people may have been feeling at this time.
