US Grade 1 - 3
In this on-going class, students will work through addition problems with and without regrouping. Regrouping can be a tricky concept sometimes so the more practice with it, the better! Each class will start by giving the students a chance to introduce themselves and answer the question of the day. We will then do a short math fact warm up to get their math brains ready. This focuses on students being able to know and remember simple addition facts (example - 5+5). As we get into working through the addition problems, we will start with some that do not use regrouping. As a class, we will work through one together where I write out the problem and explain the steps. Then the students will be given a problem to try to solve on their own. Students will take turns being able to share the answer to the problems and how they got that answer. I will then solve that problem on the screen so everyone can check their work. When we move into addition problems with regrouping, we will do the same process listed above. Once we do one of each, we will continue to practice both types of addition problems for the remainder of class, discussing and solving each problem. After each class, I will post some additional practice problems that are optional for students to do before our next class. If they would like, they can take a picture of the work they did and I can check over it to give feedback. Week 1: Reviewing addition strategies & practice problems with/without regrouping Week 2: Reviewing addition strategies & practice problems with/without regrouping Week 3: Reviewing addition strategies & practice problems with/without regrouping Week 4: Reviewing addition strategies & practice problems with/without regrouping If your student is still struggling after this class, feel free to reach out to schedule a private tutoring session for this skill. I look forward to working with your learner soon!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Lauren and I am excited to be teaching here on Outschool! I am looking forward to teaching early childhood development classes - preschool math, literacy, social skills and more! I have worked with children/students of all ages. My primary focus is with young children as I have a bachelors degree in elementary education (prek - 4th) which I obtained through Grand Canyon University. I have spent the last 10 years working in an early childhood development center, primarily working with children ages 2-4. During these last 10 years I have developed and implemented curriculum across many content areas. Aside from teaching, I am a color guard instructor at both the middle and high school levels.
I think learning is all about having fun, especially with the younger children! My experience of running an early childhood classroom will aide me in providing fun and engaging lessons here on Outschool as well!
When I am not coaching or teaching, I am busy being a wife and a mom! My husband and I have a seven year old son who is currently in second grade and an infant daughter. My older son is very involved in sports, which means I am too! I also enjoy reading, journaling, and watching tv.
I look forward to meeting and working with many young children on this journey!
