Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
This class is designed as a way to practice letters and their sounds in a fun way - playing Bingo!

**Please note, in order to play this effectively, there is a minimum class size of 3 students. Invite a friend to join us!

Prior to class, a blank Bingo board will be posted in the classroom. You will need to print it out (or draw one) and help your child chose a different CAPITAL letter to place in each spot on the board. You will want to place the letters randomly on your child's board, not write them in A-Z order. If your learner is able to write the letters, they can do this with assistance. If not, feel free to write the letters for them. This should be done prior to class to maximize the time we have playing!

At the start of class, we will review each letter briefly with flashcards. Then we will play a few rounds of bingo (as many as time allows!).

To start, we will focus on calling bingo by identifying the letter. Ex - I will say "Letter A" and everyone will mark it on their board. This will allow students to practice recognizing and identifying the letters by name. After everyone has a chance to find the letter, I will place the letter on the screen to make sure everyone marked the correct one.

After playing a few rounds that way, I will switch to letter sounds. I will call bingo by saying the sound that the letter makes, and the students will have to find the correct letter on their board. After everyone has a chance to find the letter, I will place it on the screen to make sure everyone has the correct letter.

While playing, I will reinforce letter/sound concepts!

Learning Goals

Students will practice letter/sound recognition and identification. Students will also use social skills by listening to directions, playing fairly, taking turns talking, encouraging others, etc.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Lauren and I am excited to be teaching here on Outschool! I am looking forward to teaching early childhood development classes - preschool math, literacy, social skills and more! I have worked with children/students of all ages. My primary focus is with young children as I have a bachelors degree in elementary education (prek - 4th) which I obtained through Grand Canyon University. I have spent the last 10 years working in an early childhood development center, primarily working with children ages 2-4. During these last 10 years I have developed and implemented curriculum across many content areas. Aside from teaching, I am a color guard instructor at both the middle and high school levels.

I think learning is all about having fun, especially with the younger children! My experience of running an early childhood classroom will aide me in providing fun and engaging lessons here on Outschool as well!

When I am not coaching or teaching, I am busy being a wife and a mom! My husband and I have a seven year old son who is currently in second grade and an infant daughter. My older son is very involved in sports, which means I am too! I also enjoy reading, journaling, and watching tv.

I look forward to meeting and working with many young children on this journey!
