Description
Class Experience
This individual tutoring session is designed to support learners semester-long with completing and understanding their homework on a regular weekly basis throughout the semester and/or school year. Please contact me with your desired days/times to schedule an 8-session block that works for you. If your student would like to meet more than once per week, simply enroll in two eight-session blocks for two different days of the week, or let me know if you would like to enroll in a twice-weekly...
Students will improve their understanding of all concepts assigned in homework problems, and become more confident in math.
As an engineer and someone who has tutored 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th grade math, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, ACT Math Prep, Pre-calculus, and Calculus, I have a wonderful, unique perspective on the importance of a solid foundation in math, especially pre-algebra; it is essential for all math classes that follow. I am an industrial engineer who always wanted to be a math teacher. I had fun helping my kids with math homework while they were in school, and when they started college four years ago, I began tutoring math at our local middle school as well as tutoring privately (all grades). I am able to work with students of all different learning styles and abilities and will work at your child's pace. I love all math, and I make it fun for kids! Even our cat Charlie loves to do math homework - - we just can't tear her away from it!
There is no homework assigned; we will work toward completion of homework given in school.
Students will need their assigned homework problems from their school. Students will also need pencil, paper, and a good eraser! If calculators are permitted in class, then students will also want to have a calculator. If graphing is part of the assignment, students will also need graph paper. Protractors and compasses will be needed if we are measuring or constructing angles and/or bisecting lines. Colored pencils or markers can also make it more fun.
The teacher will frequently check for understanding, leading the student when needed, and encouraging to solve problems after providing instruction. The teacher will give students the opportunity to solve problems on their own, and then we will review together.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
