US Grade 5 - 9
This individual half-hour tutoring session is designed to support learners throughout the school year with completing and understanding their school-assigned math homework for grades 6-8 and Algebra 1 on a regular weekly basis. For example, if your learner has Algebra 1 homework involving multi-step equations or systems of equations and needs help understanding concepts for successful homework completion, or has a review packet to complete to prepare for an upcoming test or quiz, then this tutor session will be perfect for them! If your learner is in 6th grade and needs help completing any homework problems (for example, multiplying and dividing fractions and decimals or computing surface area, then this tutor session will be perfect for them! Does your learner have homework that involves writing and solving equations from word problems or identifying slope and y-intercept? If so, this session will be perfect for them! Whatever homework problems your learner may have -- 6th grade math, 7th grade math, 8th grade math, or Algebra 1, they can bring their homework to this session for individualized help in completion and improved understanding of the concepts. Please contact me with your desired days/times to schedule an 8-session block that works for you. If your student would like to meet more than once per week, simply enroll in two eight-session blocks for two different days of the week. These blocks of tutor sessions can be enrolled in continuously for homework support during the entire semester or school year. Your student will bring homework problems for completion, and together we will proceed at your child's pace. My teaching style is very interactive, engaging, encouraging, and fun. I will instruct your learner as needed and guide them through any issues, encouraging growth, confidence, and fun! If homework is completed before the session is finished, I will check and reinforce student's understanding with additional similar problems that I will supply. This support is designed to make scheduling easier for those students who currently enroll with me as needed under my similar class, which is a 45-minute session. Please feel free to use a combination of these two offerings in order to support your learner as needed.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of all concepts assigned in homework problems assigned by their school, and become more confident in math.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree from University of Michigan
As an engineer and someone who has tutored 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th grade math, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, ACT Math Prep, Pre-calculus, and Calculus, I have a wonderful, unique perspective on the importance of a solid foundation in math, especially pre-algebra; it is essential for all math classes that follow.
I am an industrial engineer who always wanted to be a math teacher. I had fun helping my kids with math homework while they were in school, and when they started college more than four years ago, I began tutoring math at our local middle school as well as tutoring privately (all grades).
I am able to work with students of all different learning styles and abilities and will work at your child's pace.
I love all math, and I make it fun for kids! Even our cat Charlie loves to do math homework - - we just can't tear her away from it!
