US Grade 3 - 6
Intermediate Level
🚀 Ready to blast off into the world of game design? In this one-time Scratch class, students will build their very own Space Invaders-style video game! From choosing a hero character to blasting enemy invaders with lasers, learners will take full creative control as they bring their game ideas to life. 🎮✨ Designed for ages 7–12, this class welcomes all coding levels—from complete beginners to experienced Scratchers. With step-by-step guidance and live support, every student will leave with a project they can proudly share. 👾 What we’ll cover: How to think like a real game designer 🧠 How to code a character that moves using the arrow keys ⬅️➡️⬆️⬇️ How to fire projectiles using the space bar 🔫 How to use loops and cloning to generate enemy invaders 💥 Advanced options: add a score system, set up a timer ⏱️, or introduce bonus enemies for an extra challenge! 🧑🏫 How the class works: We cap our classes at 6 students to keep the experience interactive and personalized. The teacher will use screen-sharing, live coding, and step-by-step instruction to guide learners through the game build. Students can ask questions throughout the session and will get direct support as they create their game. 🎓💬 💡 By the end of class, students will walk away with a fully playable game—and a big boost of confidence in their coding skills! Here’s what your student can expect to do during class: - Welcome + Introductions (5 minutes) - Scratch Setup + Login (5 minutes) - Learn about what it takes to design a video game(10 minutes) - Code a space invaders game in Scratch! (about 60 minutes) - Student Project Showcase + Say Goodbye (10 minutes)
