"Unlock Literacy: Let's Read" is a supportive online class designed for learners aged 7-11 who are navigating the challenges of reading. This ongoing 1:1 course focuses on transforming reading from a barrier into a bridge, empowering young learners to grasp the words they see and hear, and ultimately to understand them. Reading is not just a skill; it’s a fundamental building block for all learning. For some , however, it can feel overwhelming. This course will simplify the reading process, helping students build confidence as they progress through their reading journey. Throughout the lessons, we’ll explore a variety of reading materials tailored to each learner's individual needs. The curriculum includes leveled informational texts, fictional stories, and non-fiction readers, as well as age and level appropriate chapter books. Each trial lesson begins with a brief assessment to identify your child’s specific strengths and areas for growth. During each 8 to 12 week period, we aim to read two chapter books alongside an assortment of shorter readings. This structured approach allows us to introduce new vocabulary regularly while reinforcing what we've learned through fun online slides, discussion, and written activities. There may be songs and video clips, as well. During each lesson, students will have the opportunity to orally read lesson material aloud, participate in friendly discussions, and practice new vocabulary through online matching activities. Additionally, if time permits, we’ll incorporate extra reading exercises that can be completed during our sessions or assigned as enjoyable homework. The goal is not only to improve reading skills but also to foster a love for literature that lasts a lifetime! Example of lesson format: * Week 1: Introduce "Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs before Dawn" (vocabulary, reinforcement activities) * Week 2: "Continue reading "Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs before Dawn" (vocabulary, reinforcement activities for comprehension, interactive discussion) * Week 3: Conclude "Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs before Dawn" (Discussion, thoughts on book, review and check comprehesion, introduce material for next week) *Week 4: Introduce leveled reading informational text, "National Geographic: Amazing Skyscrapers"
