US Grade 3
The age range is only a guide. This class is appropriate for anyone that is currently learning on a 3rd grade level. *** You do NOT have to complete any other classes to take this class. And this class will NOT cancel for low enrollment. *** Each class we will read a new book. The books will be guided reading leveled readers from levels M, N, O, or P (see monthly schedule below). We will also, review phonics for multi-syllabic words, discuss comprehension questions, complete word study activities, and engage in guided writing. Learners will also read to the group, answer questions, and engage in group discussions. Guided reading is small-group differentiated instruction that supports students in developing reading proficiency. The small-group allows teachers to target specific learning needs, provide appropriate scaffolding, and gradually reduce support to promote independence. This class is a great supplement to your existing reading program (3rd grade reading level). Monthly Schedule for Guided Reading Levels that are equivalent to 3rd Grade: M- transitional level from 2nd to 3rd grade level- covered in July, August N- beginning to middle of 3rd grade level- covered in September, October, November, December O- middle 3rd grade level- covered in January, February, March, April P- end 3rd grade level- covered in May, June
Learning Goals
Students will improve reading skills, more complex phonics (multisyllabic words, complex vowel patterns, etc.) , sight words, fluency, and comprehension.
