Class Experience

US Grade 4
Beginner Level
In this one-time class, students will learn about unicorns in the medieval time period (500 CE- 1400 CE). The class will look at unicorns in myth and literature. We will also look at unicorns in art pieces from the time period. The art pieces will also feature short introductions to the artists and history of each piece. 

The class will be in a slideshow format and lecture format. We will pause on each art piece to allow time for discussion. Students are welcome to participate or to follow along at their own comfort level.

The goal of this class will be to introduce students to medieval literature and art through unicorns.

Sources
Our main sources will be the Unicorn Tapestries in the MET, "Medieval Folklore," by World History Encyclopedia, and Medieval Folklore from Oxford University Press.
