In this 15-week semester class, we will cover the art, history, and art movement of 3 artists; Wassily Kandinsky, Gustav Klimt, and Pablo Picasso through discussions and projects. We will also spend the last 2 weeks of the semester doing a research project. The 1st week will be researching an individually chosen artist and the 2nd week, will be creating a piece of art inspired by the artist. While creating projects for each artist, I will guide the process through example with an additional document camera aimed at my hands on my art table.

over 15 WeeksUnit 1: Wassily Kandinsky
Lesson 1:
Intro to Artist
In the 1st of 5 lessons, we will begin by discussing the history and style of Kandinsky. We will watch a couple of short videos and play around with shapes, colors, and emotions in art.

Lesson 2:
Music Chalk Pastel Exercise
We will spend the class immersing ourselves in different genres of music while we create different pieces of experimental works using chalk pastels. We will also watch a video exploring what synesthesia is.

Lesson 3:
"Circles in a Circle"
Using the inspiration of Kandinsky's painting, "Circles in a Circle", we will create our own versions using oil pastels.

Lesson 4:
Week 1/2- Creating our own work inspired by Kandinsky
Using all that we have learned thus far of Kandinsky's methods and work, we will re-explore the elements and principles of design and color-theory to create a piece of work inspired by sound. Music to help inspire is allowed and encouraged.
