Understanding Fractions (Level 2): 3rd-4th Grade

Once learners have an understanding of fraction basics (equal parts of a whole), numerator, denominator, and unit fractions (one half, one third, one fourth, etc.), they are ready for this class!  We will review fraction basics and play a game to activate their prior knowledge about fractions.  Then dive into more complex fractions such as mixed numbers and improper fractions. We will add and subtract fractions with like denominators.

All fraction problems will be based in a real-world context and students will learn to represent fractions in a variety of ways to build their conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and problem solving.  The curriculum will be flexible based on the needs of the learners enrolled and their prior knowledge.  My lessons are fun and interactive.  I look forward to seeing your child in class soon!
