Class Experience
US Grade 9 - 12
Intermediate Level
This is a tutoring session for a geometry course or curriculum already being taken by the student. Each session, we will cover concepts of geometry including angles, lines, shapes, and triangles, and the laws that govern them. Some problem solving and proof writing will be done as well. I will use a white board or draw on the computer primarily. Drawings will be used to help learn concepts. Learners will be asked prompting questions and will answer while working through a math problem. This class is week to week as it is expected to last the duration of the course. Tutoring can be catered to the learning style of the student and different methods of teaching can be used until understanding is reached. Sample and practice problems are usually worked together and then the student will work on their own with help until they are confident.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree from Texas A&M University
I love teaching about math and physics. I have a degree in engineering, but I have always enjoyed math and tutoring. I tutored math and physics in college and I am getting back into it after working as a Professional Engineer and then raising kids for a bit.
I have a few mindsets I approach teaching and tutoring with. The first is that everyone starts somewhere. Students struggle in different areas, and even with different topics of math, while they may excel in others. I always encourage my students that they can learn hard subjects and that we can work together to make them make sense. I also like to get to know a students learning style and teach based on their individual style. I can teach concepts from different perspectives to help a student understand well. I like to ask leading questions and guide a student through problem solving until they are comfortable working problems independently.
Even though this is Outschool, I firmly believe the best path to mastery of math and physics is two-fold: understanding the physical or visual concept, as well as practice. Practice will mean working and solving problems.
Some of my hobbies are kayaking, fishing, reading and gardening. I have two daughters and two kitties.
