US Grade 3
This class is the final session of the third grade spelling, reading, and writing series. We will focus on works with silent letters, various diphthongs, and compound words. We will dive deeper into vocabulary, work to strengthen comprehension skills such as outlining to understand text, main idea and supporting details, character traits, summarizing, and sequencing of events. We will also learn the writing process of brainstorming, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing as we explore various types of writing including narrative fiction, nonfiction articles, letters and envelopes, recipes and instructions, and poetry.
Learning Goals
The student will be able to spell words featuring the targeting skill correctly.
The student will be able to identify the main idea and supporting details in a text, describe the character traits of characters in the stories they read, outline text for increased understanding, summarize text, and put events into correct sequence.
