Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
This privately taught course is designed to address your child's specific reading needs such as word attack strategies, fluency issues, and comprehension skills. We will begin with a reading assessment to determine your child's instructional level. Then, instruction will be tailored to your child's reading level, taking into account their strengths and areas in which they need additional support.

Instruction will be given in work attack strategies, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.

Students will select their own texts will from Reading A-Z based on their interests within their determined reading level. We will read the text online, focus on decoding and word attack strategies, build vocabulary and sight word recognition, and fluency, and build comprehension for each text selected. Students will then get to print and keep the books they choose to add to their own home library to reread for both practice and pleasure!

Reading Levels may be adjusted depending on student's progress.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their ability to decode new or unfamiliar words in text. They will also improve their fluency by learning to read smoothly and modulate their voice appropriate to the flow and content of the text.
