Class Experience

The class will start off by watching funny videos featuring animals. Students will take turns speaking in the place of the animals to convey what they are thinking.

Then we will take turns matching objects and human characteristics to see which makes the most sense.

We will read and listen to find examples of personification in text.

Students will draw and share a personification of their own creation and we will attempt to write a group story or poem using all of them.
Learning Goals
Students will learn and practice personification to improve description in their writing.

Teacher expertise and credentials
When students are allowed to be creative, sometimes the best work comes out of it. Teaching figurative language has always been one of my favorite things to do with students. Results are cute, funny, and very original.
