In this ongoing class, students will learn a variety of mindfulness coping tools to help manage strong emotions like anger, sadness, anxiety, grief, and other emotions. In each class, we will share one thing we are grateful for or something that makes us happy, then we will learn about the theme of the current class. We will end the class by practicing a variety of different mindfulness/coping strategies that go with the theme for the day and practice them together. The classes will also include games or activities to help us practice what we learn. The course encourages interaction between the students and the teacher, including practicing the techniques and tips. My slides and videos use visual based learning techniques to help the kids remember what we are learning. I encourage students to practice with me and outside of the class and teach their families what they learned. Since this is an ongoing class, the students can come and go as they please. The classes do not add onto each other. They are each stand-alone classes that teach different coping tools and strategies. Students can take as many as they would like. After each class, I will post a handout of the coping tools we learned that day on the classroom page. Students do not need any prior knowledge to take this class. There are 10 themes total in this class. After 10 weeks, the class themes will repeat. Here is a list of each of each of the themes: Theme 1: Connecting with Our Emotions/Emotions and the Brain Theme 2: Mindfulness Theme 3: Self-Esteem Theme 4: Gratitude Theme 5: Listening to Our Bodies Theme 6: Breathing Theme 7: Kindness Theme 8: The 5 Senses Theme 9: Self-Care Theme 10: Coping Tools *After the 10 themes, I will start repeating the listed themes*

Other Details
Parental Guidance
I will be showing an image of the brain with different parts (Amygdala, Hippocampus, and Pre-Frontal Cortex) highlighted. In this class, students will be encouraged to talk about the coping tools they like. I will always try to steer the class discussions towards the coping tools, and not events or situations where coping tools are needed. This class is not meant to be a group therapy, so we will not focus on talking about difficult situations, but we will focus on teaching and practicing different coping strategies.
Supply List
In some classes, (week 1, week 2, week 4, and week 9) students will be asked to color a picture, so they will need paper and things to color with. If they do not have access to these supplies, they can explain instead of drawing. In the other classes, students will not need any materials.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
