Have you ever wondered why you dream? Do your dreams mean anything? What about nightmares? In this one-time class, we will cover the science behind dreaming. First, we look at the history of dreaming in other cultures. Then, we look at the area of the brain responsible for dreaming and cover the mechanisms of dreaming during REM-stage sleep. Dreams have a purpose for your brain! We will then touch upon dream interpretation vs. science and end class with interpreting one dream from each student

This class is very interactive! If they feel comfortable, each student can bring a dream that they have had that they would like interpreted. The teacher will lead students to help interpret their dreams and encourage them to dream journal after class is over. Dream journal links will be provided in the supply list below as well as in the classroom. A question and answer session will close class.

Students are encouraged to print out or at least have looked at the dream journal link below. Dream journaling can continue beyond class as well.

Parents: This class is for students age 8-10. I have a Science of Dreams class for older students ages 11-16 as well.

Please note, fewer numbers of students may result in a shortened class time.

There will be no refunds issued for a student(s) missing class.

I have been the Coordinator for a hospital-based sleep disorders lab for the last 14f years and am a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist. I have worked with thousands of patients over the years with sleep disorders and one of the most common questions is about their dreams. How do dreams and science fit together? Well, dreams have a purpose for your brain! As a former middle school science teacher, let me lead your student on a quest to understand dreams.
