2-4 hours per week. Homework will be a variety of worksheets and labs throughout the course. Homework should last an hour or less for each assignment.Assessment
A letter grade will be given for each homework assignment if it is uploaded to the teacher. We will also begin each class by discussing the homework given and review our previous information learned.Class Experience
US Grade 5 - 8
Skeletal, endocrine, circulatory, respiratory......let's explore the organ systems of the human body! In this 7-week class (Part 1), students will meet twice a week and have homework for two days a week, making this course appropriate for a semester-long class when taken with Part 2. Each class begins with discussion over our homework, review of the previous class, and then moving onto new class material. We will utilize slides, videos, pictures, and actual demonstrations or labs used throughout the course. Messages in the classroom will be utilized if students have any questions on homework throughout the week. This class is intensive, which means students will be expected to complete their homework each day that we don't meet for live class. Paper and a writing utensil will be required. We also do some dissections during this class, so students will need a dissection kit (in the Supply List) and be mature enough to independently handle this kit. Some homework assigned will be worksheets and others will be at-home experiments using household items. Please view the supply list for supplies. I will make sure to keep parents updated via classroom posts on what will be needed for the upcoming week. Grades are given if families want them; assignments will need to be uploaded in order to be graded. Please see the Syllabus for a sneak-peek at what we will be learning each class. Part 2 should be taken after this if looking for a semester-long course. Please note, fewer numbers of students may result in a shortened class time. There will be no refunds issued for a student(s) missing class.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to explore through lecture, experiments, demonstrations, homework, and discussion the organ systems of the human body.

Other Details
Learning Needs
Activities are not mandatory and can be adapted to fit the needs of each individual learner. Notes and homework can be digitally manipulated if student prefers, graded or not, no reading out loud in class.
Parental Guidance
Student will be using dissection tools that can be sharp. Students must be mature enough in parent's decision to utilize these tools during class independently.
Pre-Requisites
As a dissection is done in class (if student chooses) students need to have eye-hand coordination enough to handle some tools that are sharp. Students need to be mature enough, in parents/guardians estimation, to be safe around sharp tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
2 Degrees
Master's Degree from Western Governors University
Bachelor's Degree in Science from Missouri Southern State University
I was a middle school science teacher for 10 years. I have also homeschooled and graduated my daughter for 10 years. As a public school teacher, I taught Earth Science, Chemistry, Physical Science, Zoology, Biology, and more to hundreds of students. Science is a passion of mine and I find performing experiments both fascinating and illuminating when learning new scientific facts! In this class, students will have ample opportunity to perform their own experiments to reiterate the information they learn in class. I have my Bachelor's degree in Biology/Pre-Med and a Master's in Healthcare Administration. I currently manage a hospital-based sleep lab where we practice many of the things (blood pressures, respiratory issues) we will discuss in class.
