In this course, students will first learn or review the concepts of the progressive tense and the perfect tense of verbs. PROGRESSIVE TENSES: This segment of the lesson will focus on two forms (present progressive and past progressive). These tenses use the helping verb, "be" with the -ing form of action verbs. Therefore, we will review the present and past tense forms of "Be," and the students will be given examples of how the tense is used in sentences. Afterward, they will form their own present and past progressive tenses from a list of verbs. The teacher will assess the student outcomes as each learner shares his or her sentences with the class. PERFECT TENSES: In this segment of the lesson, students will be versed in the meanings and uses of the present and past perfect tenses. They will gain an understanding of how theses tenses are formed (using the auxiliary verb, have and the past participle of the main verb). Students will be shown examples of these formations and given the opportunity to verbally make additional verb conjugations. This segment will be followed by a guided practice activity, in which students will provide the missing verb forms for a set of sentences. As always, students will have the opportunity to ask questions and gain clarity throughout the lesson.
Learning Goals
Students will enhance their understanding of progressive and perfect tenses of verbs and use them effectively.

This class is being offered as an important segment in building a solid foundation of English grammar. Grammar has always been a skill set that I have taken ownership of and genuinely enjoyed. Consequently, implementing these skills has undergirded my ability to become an effective writer and teacher. Therefore, it is my goal to replicate my knowledge base into the minds of my students.
