This online homeroom class meets four days a week for 25 minutes, offering a creative and interactive space for young teens to develop crucial life skills. Each week, students engage in activities that enhance social skills, executive functioning, and overall well-being. The schedule includes light stretching and yoga on Mondays to start the week with mindfulness, practical life skills on Tuesdays, friendship and social skills on Wednesdays, and a reflective check-in on Thursdays, addressing student-requested topics such as journaling, scheduling, and organization. This dynamic and engaging class is designed to be both fun and educational, helping students build strong foundations for their future. On Mondays, we will start the week with calming and fun exercises. Light stretching and simple yoga poses help children develop body awareness, balance, and flexibility while promoting relaxation and mindfulness. On Tuesdays, we will explore important life skills tailored for preteens and teen children. Activities might include simple cooking projects, understanding personal hygiene, and helping with chores around the house. These sessions help foster independence and practical skills. Our focus will be on how to build and strengthen social connections through interactive activities and role-playing on Wednesdays. Children will learn about sharing, empathy, cooperation, and effective communication, all vital for forming strong friendships. The last day each week is all about reflecting and addressing the interests and needs of the children. We will have a group check-in, allowing each child to share their thoughts and feelings. Additionally, we'll explore topics like arts and crafts, journaling, scheduling, and keeping organized, as requested by the students and families.
