Class Experience

NASA uses different robotic explorers in the solar system: landers, rovers, and satellites!! Each robotic explorer is used for very different purposes depending on the planet being observed. NASA refers to their satellites as their eyes of the solar system! In this hands on class, we will learn about satellites, what they are used for, where they are used, and the different parts of satellites. We will learn through a lesson, look at pictures and videos, and then your student will design their own satellite through the engineering design process!

We will spend a big part of class designing and creating our satellites. Each child will create their own through their imaginations and their own creative design. Please make sure to have supplies for class so the children can create! This can all be created with things from around the house! Please check the supply list. This class is part lesson and part design and create. Children learn best when they can use their hands and imagination! Join us in this fun class!

Please note, a design will not be sent to your student, they will completely design their satellite using the things we will talk about in class.

Want your child to have an excellent base in all things STEM? I offer incredible classes and exciting opportunities to learn, think, engineer, and invent! My classes are designed for multiple age groups, and are inclusive for those with disabilities, including those with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and learning disabilities. Each class is different, covering subjects like physics, engineering, architecture, biology, chemistry, mathematics, and much more. Join me and learn in a fun and engaging way! Heart my profile and see what new classes are coming out!

Learning Goals

Students will have a better understanding of what satellites are, how they function, their uses and structures. They will also learn about the engineering design process.

I believe in igniting the fire for the love of learning and meeting children where they are at. I also believe the best way to learn is through play, hands on experiments, and having fun. My favorite things to teach are STEM, Math, facilitating safe gaming classes, and reading classes.

I attended University of Houston at Clear Lake and received my Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education- Young Children with Disabilities and my Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education- Children with Disabilities. I was the owner and founder of The Mind Body Lab, where I taught STEM, Art, and Yoga classes. I am also a private tutor.

I was the Assistant Director of Early Childhood camps for University of Houston at Clear Lake, and for 6 years I designed, developed, and implemented inclusive camps for young children. I have also taught a homeschool science classes at a local nature center, where I prepared lesson plans, wrote lessons that included STEM, and instructed an inclusive class.

I believe every child learns in a different way and the way I teach will reflect that. I plan my classes in a way where all learners needs are met, we do not all learn the same so I offer multiple ways to understand the subject.

I have homeschooled my children for the last 12 years. I am a first degree black belt and love everything martial arts!

My goal is to educate, include, enlighten, ignite, and help children explore this world.
