In this STEM class, learners will be exposed to the engineering and design process (plan, create, test, improve) as they complete a STEM challenge. Challenge: Using only the listed materials create the longest paper chain in a set amount of time. Materials: 1. 8 1/2 by 11 piece of paper. 2. Scissors* 3. Glue stick 4. Ruler 5. Learners can tell the steps of the engineering and design process. Learners will use problem solving to work through a challenge. Learners will collaborate with others as they solve an engineering challenge.
I am STEM certified by the state of Georgia and hold certification from the Buck Institute in PBL/STEM. I developed the STEM program at my local elementary school where I was the STEM Specials teacher for grades K-5. I lead Summer STEM camps at Georgia Tech University for students in grades 3-8.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will use scissors in this class. It is recommended that an adult is present and nearby to ensure scissors are used safely and correctly.
