Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 3
Weekly Theme Building!
During this class students will be challenged each week with a new Magnetic Tiles build. I will introduce a building theme and then ask students to build it using their own Magnetic Tiles. This class is designed to encourage our students to work together, learn from each other and also build their own independent thinking. In this class I encourage students to see what their classmates are doing when they build and gain more ideas and inspiration!

This class will begin with an explanation of what we will build in class. This is not a "how to build" class. We are working on trying to build new things and "challenging" ourselves. I will share with the students what our build is and then I will give the students 5-7 minutes to get set up and begin building. After we have had some time to get started we will take time to share our work and and progress building our challenge.

This class will require a set of magnetic tiles. (any brand will be great) The builds we create can be adapted to any size set of Tiles. The Magnetic Tiles set needs to include squares and triangle. Magnetic Tiles sets that are designed to be "marble run" or other forms will not work for this building class. We will use the shapes sets to build for these challenges.

*** Parents just a note this class is not a "how to build" class. It is designed to allow our students to build after being given suggestions on how to get started. I will always demonstrate ideas with my own tiles if a student needs some inspiration. I also allow students to help each other. I think it is an important part of a group class. I then interact with them to encourage them to adjust, change improve and problem solve their builds. Each class we have a different item we will try to build. I love magnetic tiles! Let's get to work young engineers! Students can use any brand or type magnetic tile (Magna-Tiles, Picasso, Magformers, Playmags) Generic magnetic tiles work fine as well

****Please note this is for students who are 5 years old and up. This class is not geared for students who are younger than 5. Additionally I can not accommodate same day transfers (within 24 hours of class start time) for sickness or other related issues. It takes away an open spot for some students who are trying to get into the class. I am often going from one class to another so please understand messaging me directly before as just as class is beginning may mean I cannot reply. Once class has begun I am not available to reply.

**For students who are 5-6 years old an adult may be needed nearby if your student is not accustomed to mute/unmute. There are times when we may need to be on mute during this class so I recommend having someone available to help with that as needed.

** Students will begin class on mute at the onset of class in order for me to give classroom instructions and introduce our build. Once we have begun working on the build we will come off of mute together.

*** I ask that students not bring other toys to class to show during class. We want to keep the focus on our Magnetic Tiles. Occasionally students may use their figurines or other small toys to enhance their builds. We try to allot as much time as possible to building and sharing during class for that reason we do not do "show and share" with other toys for this class.

The classroom will be opened 2 minutes before start time. I will move students from the waiting room at class start time. This allows for all students to enter class at the same time. Parents please have students arrive on time for class as we jump right into building time and late comers often miss the explanations at the beginning of class! See you in the classroom!

Hello! My name is Teacher Carol. I hold a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, with a minor concentration in Public Speaking.

I currently teach STEM building on the Outschool platform. I am TESOL and TEFL certified. I have taught online for the last 8 years. I teach children ages 3-16 in the online classroom everyday. Additionally I have home schooled my children overseas.

I lived in China for 10 years. During my time living abroad, I taught ESL in China to students ranging from Pre-K through Middle school as well as adult learners. I currently teach ESL online. I am also a mother of three adult children and I have 3 grandchildren! My favorite title is Grandma!

I enjoy teaching classes that are geared to several ages. I teach in the online classroom everyday. I enjoy younger students and their curiosity. I love to have a good time with my younger students! I enjoy talking with older students and getting to know their unique personalities. I am a chatterbox and enjoy meeting new people. My classroom is a relaxed and easy going environment. I want children to feel comfortable and have fun. When children have fun they will learn. I desire to bring my experiences living abroad into my classroom. I want to share my love for different countries and cultures. In my spare time I am an avid snorkeler, swimmer and beach bum!

My goals in the classroom are simple: Lets learn and have fun together! I welcome, and celebrate, all different learning styles and personalities. I have an interactive classroom. I enjoy using digital effects in my classroom to engage our students and help them get excited about learning. Whether we are reading a book together, sharing our toys or having a great conversation together we always have something to learn.
See you in the classroom,
