This class will teach the student/learner the basics of forming a real business. It will teach (1) choosing & creating a product (2) calculating the cost of goods/production of the product, the selling price, and the potential profits (3) marketing the business and understanding the basics of selling to customers (4) customer service, building a clientele of happy, satisfied customers. Besides service and product creation, businesses provide income to their owners and wages to their employees. The teacher of the course spent more than fifteen years in the investment and banking industry, serving the needs of businesses and business owners, and has had real-world experience in starting both for-profit businesses and not-for-profit organizations. The student/learners will interact with the teacher through lectures, discussion, and question and answer exercises to check for understanding and comprehension. Various websites, apps, and internet sources will be engaged and used as the students form and engage in their actual business. At the conclusion of the course, the student will have the basic tools and knowledge of running business based on their passion and interests.
Learning Goals
At the conclusion of this class, the student/learner will create and start an actual business. They will understand that businesses exist to provide services and products to their immediate or a worldwide community of consumers and customers.
