Class Experience

Learn to be an entrepreneur! Launch your own business! Become independent! Live out your dream!

This class is all you need to know to launch any type of small business. And what's even better, this is not just another "book learning" business class. This is a class based on decades of personal experience as a serial entrepreneur. We will be discussing real world scenarios and hands on tips that are proven to work. If you have any dream of having your own business someday, this is a great foundation to launch from!

The topics covered in this 10 week course are equivalent to a junior college business course, but presented in an age appropriate manner.

The class flow will be some lecture, some interactive whiteboarding, with plenty of discussion and brainstorming. There will be recommended books to read for further learning and anecdotal evidence about success and failure. Come prepared to participate!

In the background of this 10 week course, each participant is expected to build an actual business plan and present it in week 10 to "investors", with actual feedback on both the idea and the delivery of the business plan.

Topics covered:

Week 1: Introductions and General Business Definitions

Week 2: Effective Leadership

Week 3: Business Rhythm

Week 4: Legalities / Web Presence

Week 5: Basic Accounting

Week 6: Disruption Business Approach

Week 7: Lean Startup Methodology

Week 8: Money Sources / Marketing

Week 9: Writing Business Plans

Week 10: Present Business Plans

Learning Goals

The goal is to inspire towards entrepreneurship while equipping with a foundation to succeed.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been a serial entrepreneur for five decades, across a wide variety of business types including retail, publishing, repair, photography, computer science, agriculture, professional services, etc. My position has usually be founder or on the founding team, and usually worked as owner or C and VP level executive. These businesses have ranged from teams of 1 to 100+. Some have operated successfully, some were acquired, and some failed (yes, it happens to the best of us). Through it all I have learned what works and what doesn't. Now I desire to pass this wealth of experience on to the next generation.

This course is my heart as well as my skill and experience.
