Life Lessons From "Leave It to Beaver" (Ongoing)

Life lessons and common sense wisdom as communicated and portrayed in the classic TV series "Leave It To Beaver" will be taught. In every class, an episode of the series will be viewed (paused and broken down) and the key virtues of the story will be highlighted and taught. These virtues and moral markers will include, Self-discipline, Compassion, Responsibility, Friendship, Work, Courage, Perseverance, Honesty and Loyalty. Group discussion, questions and answers, feedback, active listening and checking for understanding will be key practices and activities central to each classroom session. Titles, Episodes and Lesson Emphases for upcoming classes will be: Week of February 11th - "Captain Jack" - Responsibility, care and goal-setting. Week of February 18th - "The Black Eye" - Restraint, peacemaking and friendship Week of February 25th - "Beaver Gets 'Spelled" - Fear, bad-advice, honesty Week of March 3rd - "Water Anyone?" - Work, ingenuity, good deeds Week of March 10th - "Wally's Girl Trouble" - Camaraderie, family ties, consolation Week of March 17th - "Part Time Genius" - Mistakes and comparison Week of March 24th - "New Neighbors" - Misunderstanding Week of March 31st - "The Haircut" - Being careful, honesty Week of April 7th - "Brotherly Love" - Friendship, loyalty and reconciliation Aristotle wrote that good habits formed at youth make all the difference. Through these classes students will learn the essential traits of building good character.
