US Grade 1 - 3
Learners will engage in various aspects of word problems: what is being asked, numbers provided in the text, context clues to help indicate necessary math operations, and checking the answer reached. Slides will be shared to visually reinforce the focus of the lesson and keep learners engaged. Lessons will include introducing and explaining the material and asking students to participate in answering questions. Learners will have skills reinforced through review slides and several practice problems. Welcome and overview 1-4 minutes Warm-up 5-10 minutes Introduction of word problems 3-6 minutes Practice/Examples 13-15 minutes Breakdown of word problems 8-12 Independent work/questions/review 10 minutes Preview for next lesson 3-5 minutes Day One: Off to the Zoo Day Two: At the Carnival Day Three: I’m Hungry Day Four: Practice and Review
Learning Goals
Students practice and become more comfortable/advance with word problems, reinforce math skills )add, subtract, multiply, or divide), review words like sum, share, or fewer which indicate needed math operations all with a fun twist. Many opportunities to ask questions.

Enjoy helping children learn. I served the Director of Ancillary Services tasked with planning and executing summer and winter camps at a PK-12 school. I hold a degree in Psychology and an MBA, a 150-hour master teacher certificate for teaching English as a second language courses and have served as a college counselor for almost 5 years advising students and families on the college acceptance process. I have taught middle school, have been an academic administrator in a Pre-K 12 school and was a founding director of a Learning Center.
