Description
Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
Upon completion of this course, students will have the confidence to practice their newfound abilities on a skateboard as well as understand how to ride their local skatepark and/or desired obstacles.
I have been skateboarding for 20+ years, and a sponsored/professional skateboarder for the past 10+ years. As a skateboarding coach, I have taught children across the world, primarily in Canada and Australia for the past 5 years.
In weeks 2-5, there will be homework assigned. In addition to the online course, students will be expected to go out and try/film themselves skateboarding throughout the course. I heavily encourage that parents are the ones facilitating these sessions. Photo/video assignments can be filmed on any device that has a camera - smartphone, laptop, tablet, etc. The videos do not have to be any immaculate quality - I will just need to evaluate the progress of the student. I will be looking specifically at their foot placement and stance on the board.
Complete Skateboard Digital camera / smartphone to film homework
There will be a positive peer review from weeks 3-6, as well as an informal assessment from the teacher. At the end of the course, the student will receive a written report.
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Skateboarding is a physical activity. Parents should be supervising their children while skateboarding. Protective gear is heavily encouraged.
