Description

Class Experience

Students will learn vocabulary words, prepositions, and basic music concepts. The music concepts students learn will be gained through participation. We will learn steady beat, accented beats, high and low pitches, short and long sounds, fast and slow tempo, and loud and soft volume. Learners will also learn to move responsively to music and sing unaccompanied by instruments.
I am a certified music teacher. I am certified to teach all grades. I have years of experience teaching music and literacy to kindergarteners.
Parents and learners should expect to practice the songs as much as necessary to make them permanent in their memory. The songs will be reviewed in our classes during this course.
The assessment rubric and lyrics document will be provided before the class. After class, students will be able to access the class video for further practice. Each parent will receive a completed rubric showing the level of mastery their learner showed in each skill.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Literacy concepts will not be assessed, because they will be taught formatively as a means of gaining musical skills, concepts, and enjoyment. Learner progress in music will be assessed by rubric and observation. Students will need to have their cameras and microphones on and to remain focused during class. Parental supervision is recommended.
Students will receive a certificate of completion for their portfolio.
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
There is no mature or sensitive material included in this class.
