Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten
In this class learners will be introduced to 3-5 sight words each week. We will do basic sight words that are needed for kindergarten. In addition we will learn a color word and a number word each week. We will do fun songs to learn the color and number words. We will also do exercises with the number word to get a bit of active movement in the class.
Each class will begin with a morning message that we will "read" together. We will identify word matches and sight words that will intentionally be put into the message.
Each class will have slides where we review sight words and practice using them in sentences. I will be happy to share my slides with anyone who wants them.
Each class will have a book that uses one or more of the daily sight words. We will read it together.
Each class will also have a worksheet that will be added in the classroom after you enroll. The worksheet will provide more practice with one of our sight words for that day. The kids will practice tracing the word, writing the word, circling the word when they see it amongst other words, and then cutting and pasting the letters to "build the word". We will also practice making sentences using that word.
Each class will also review quickly words previously taught, although this class is designed to jump in at any time.
Here is what the first few weeks will look like:
*Week one : We will learn the words: I, a, can, you, and am. Our color word is red and our number word is one. The worksheet that we will do will be with the word can.
*Week two : We will learn the words: see, go, and big. Our color word is blue and our number word is two. The worksheet that we will do will be with the word see.
*Week three : We will learn the words: is, the, my, and are. Our color word is green and our number is three. The worksheet that we will do will be with the word the.

*Week five: We will learn the words little, and, funny, & here. Our color word is orange and the number word is five. The worksheet that we will do will be the word little.
Week six: We will learn the words to, in, that, & cat (and we will practice other "at words"). Our color word is purple and the number word is six. The worksheet that we will do will be the word in.
Week seven: We will learn the words we, help, was, jump, sad,& man. Our color word is black and the number word is seven. The worksheet that we will do will be the word jump.
Week eight: We will learn the words for, not, has she, and bag (we will also work on other short a words). Our color word is white and our number word is eight. The worksheet that we will do will be for the word for.
Week nine: We will learn the words sad, mad, bad, dad, and had. Our color word is gray and our number word is nine. The worksheet that we will do will be for the word not (a review from the previous week).
Learning Goals
The goal is for the learners to be able to read the sight words that are introduced each class .I want them to be able to read the word in isolation and in a sentence. I also hope that they can spell all of their color words and number words at the end of 10 sessions. This is an ongoing class, and if the interest is high, I can continue to add more difficult sight words.
