Have you ever learned something really interesting and you wanted to tell everyone about it? In this class, you get the opportunity to be the teacher and share with other learners the most interesting thing you learned this week. Maybe you took an art class and would like to show off your art work, or maybe you read a really great book that you want to share with everyone. Did you build something? Cook something? Learn a new math skill? Play a musical instrument? Come to class and teach us what you learned! After all, teaching others is the best way retain new information and practice what you learned. Also, you will be exposed to all the things the other learners learned. You might find what they learned interesting and decide you would like to learn more about it yourself. Learners should be prepared to present for 2-3 minutes and have something to show the other learners. You could show a real object, for example the cake you learned to bake. You could show pictures of what you learned about, for example a collage of pictures showing us how you baked a cake. You could even make a digital slide show to show us what you learned. ***Please note that learners will not be able to screen share during class. All digital materials should be in a google slides link that will be shared with the teacher 48 hours prior to the class time. The teacher will share her screen during class. If you have questions about this, please ask.*** Class Schedule: Each week is different as it will depend on what learners bring to share in class. There are not any special themes or topics we must stick to. The only requirement is that the information being shared is age appropriate, rated G. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to send me a message. If this class does not fill, there may be some extra time at the end of class. Learners will be give more time to talk about what they have learned and ask questions. We may also talk about somethings that they want to learn in the future. I can usually keep the conversation flowing, but if we happen to have only one or two learners in class we may end the class no more than 5 minutes early. I like to let learners talk, ask questions, and share their comments. I try to plan my classes to make sure we have time for each learner to share multiple times. Grownups, please help your learner share any links or materials in the Outschool classroom that may be helpful or interesting to the other learners. For example, if your learner is sharing about something they learned from another Outschool class, please be sure to share the link in the classroom so other learners can enroll in the class if they are interested as well.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from State University of New York at Fredonia
Hi there! My name is Ms. Amanda and I am an experienced online teacher with a background in childhood education and Spanish. After graduating from the State University of New York at Fredonia, I taught first grade in Arizona for two years before moving to North Carolina to open a business with my husband. In North Carolina, I taught GED and ESL classes at a community college and first grade for two more years.
Despite my love for teaching in the traditional classroom setting, once my son was born, I decided to stay home and pursue my passion for teaching online. Since then, I have been staying at home with my two young children while teaching online classes with OutSchool and teaching ESL classes to children in China. I also worked as a content producer for a children's literacy app.
I have a passion for helping children learn how to read, which is a crucial foundation for lifelong learning. As an educator, I believe in instilling a growth mindset in my students, where they are encouraged to embrace challenges, learn from their mistakes, and ultimately reach their full potential. I look forward to working with your child to help them develop their skills and build their confidence in the classroom and beyond.
