Class Experience

Manners seem like they should be common sense, but they are really a second nature that you have to learn when you are a child. This class isn't about bringing back old rules to make children into silent little robots with no voice; it's about teaching them essential manners that will make them happy, confident, well-functioning global citizens. Learning manners will help make their lives easier, help them build relationships with friends, and help them get along with everyone.

Each week we will have a short etiquette lesson and learn about a new manner. Learners will discuss the manner, why it is important, and then be challenged to practice properly using the manner throughout the week.

April 24 - Introductions and Being a Good Listener
May 1st - Dealing with Conflict
May 8th - Sharing and Sportsmanship
May 15th - Patience

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Education from State University of New York at Fredonia
Hi there! My name is Ms. Amanda and I am an experienced online teacher with a background in childhood education and Spanish. After graduating from the State University of New York at Fredonia, I taught first grade in Arizona for two years before moving to North Carolina to open a business with my husband. In North Carolina, I taught GED and ESL classes at a community college and first grade for two more years.

Despite my love for teaching in the traditional classroom setting, once my son was born, I decided to stay home and pursue my passion for teaching online. Since then, I have been staying at home with my two young children while teaching online classes with OutSchool and teaching ESL classes to children in China. I also worked as a content producer for a children's literacy app.

I have a passion for helping children learn how to read, which is a crucial foundation for lifelong learning. As an educator, I believe in instilling a growth mindset in my students, where they are encouraged to embrace challenges, learn from their mistakes, and ultimately reach their full potential. I look forward to working with your child to help them develop their skills and build their confidence in the classroom and beyond.
