Students will learn by looking at artwork by the artist, teacher demonstration, and independent work time. Students will check in with the teacher after the demonstration to ensure understanding. The teacher will check in with each students as they progress through the lesson. This lesson will cover Artists, Giacometti, Louise Nevelson, Dale Chihuly, and Alexander Calder. At the end of each week your student will have a better understanding of different types of sculpture and how to create them using materials found in the house or easily purchased.

Students will improve their three dimensional art making skills using easily accessible materials.

Supply List
Week One- Giacometti- Pipe cleaners or wooden sticks or rods, foil, wire(optional), cardboard, and glue. Week Two- Dale Chihuly- clear plastic cups, permanent markers, and string(preferably clear). Note: if your student is younger they may need help as we will be using the oven to melt the plastic!!!! Week Three-Louise Nevelson- any found material- cardboard, bottle caps, paper clips, pieces of wood, etc. ANY little pieces of junk! Black paint, a strong glue. Week Four- Alexander Calder- paper that your can cut but isn’t flimsy, scissors, pencil.
