Welcome to Violin Club: A Group Violin Class With Friends! Students sometimes learn best when they can share their progress with their peers and benefit from group problem solving. This course is designed for beginner-intermediate learners who already know the basics of violin playing but would like to improve their skills in a fun, supportive and social environment. In Violin Club, participation and group discussion is encouraged but not necessary. If your learner is introverted or shy they will still benefit from this class by listening, observing and participating in the music making. My approach incorporates lots of interactive games that introduce students to the concepts of active listening, rhythmic awareness, ear training, collaborative playing, improvisation and mindful practice. These include but are not limited to "clap back", "rhythm words", and "write your own song." Critical listening skills will be developed through listening to short musical samples followed by discussion. I encourage students to share or learn their favourite popular songs, and actively engage in their learning process. The curriculum will also be designed to include beginner-intermediate violists! Parents are expected to be involved in helping students tune their instrument before the start of class if the student does not know how to do it yet themselves. I will send an instructional video about tuning prior to the start of the class.
