Class Experience

This awesome, fun, and creative art lesson was created for Pre-K and Kinder students to help with benchmark skills like scissor usage, ability to follow lines and instructions, and hand/eye coordination.
Students will always see an example of what we will be creating before we start. This is a step-by-step guided class and the instructor will be creating with the students. This class models the "I do, you do" to help younger students with each step.
This lesson was originally taught to me when I was in elementary school and I adapted it when I was teaching Pre-K/Kinder art classes. I am so excited to be offering this to Outschool students.

Students will be creating an Underwater World using construction paper and will use the layering technique. We will draw all pencil lines before cutting. Parents are welcome to sit with their student if needed.

Students must be able to use scissors and a pencil.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Taegen Reed and I am a successful online educator. I offer both Art and Creative Writing and have had the pleasure of teaching both subjects for the past 15 years. I can confidently utilize my love of the English language and my art skills to guide aspiring writers and artists. I have a Bachelor's degree in English with a minor in History. I have 6 years experience teaching Art to elementary age students, K-5 and have taught ESL online for over 3 years. I am an accomplished artist but I prefer to call myself an Art teacher. I truly believe that everyone can produce a piece of art...they just need the right teacher and inspiration. When I am teaching I love to see students' enthusiasm and their love of learning. I enjoy watching young writers and artists apply the skills that they are learning towards their own work. My teaching methods include an example of the day's activity and I always provide variations. You will always find me doing the activity with the students and encouraging them to add their own creativity whether it is an Art class or a Creative Writing class.
