Class Experience

US Grade 4 - 6
Riddles and puzzles help children use their brain in different ways. They create critical thinking, logic, and problem-solving skills that help prepare children for tests like the SAT and ACT as well as real life situations and problems. Solving puzzles can also boost your mood, because your brain's production of dopamine increases.

I will prepare a collection of riddles each week. I will share them with the students and allow them to answer. As this class was requested by students in another of my classes, I know that students are excited and eager to share riddles that they find too. The riddles can be ones that they have found online, in a book, or made up on their own.

Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Bachelor's Degree in Education from Westminster College
Hi! My name is Lauren, but my students call me "Best Teach". I graduated from Westminster College in 2004 with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduating, I earned my Pennsylvania English as a Second Language Program Specialist K-12 certification. I moved to Shenandoah, Virginia to teach English as a Second Language in 2006. I taught over 40 students (K-12) at 4 different schools. In 2007, I moved to the traditional first grade classroom.

Since then, I have taught in many different capacities. I have taught baby sign language to parents, online for two years as an English as a Second Language teacher, and as a homeschool tutor. My most valuable teaching experience has come as a homeschool mom. I have been teaching my neurodivergent 15 year old son and neurotypical 12 year old daughter since the day they were born.

I bring a variety of classes to Outschool, because I like to pull from all of my interests and talents.
