Description
Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
Students will improve their reading skills in this 8-week course. Goals for Level 1 are: Learn the letters of the alphabet, recognize that letters have sounds, become familiar with print concepts, and to find joy in reading.
I am a private tutor with a Master's in Child Psychology. Most of my experience comes from helping children who learn differently. I help children with Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Autism, ADHD, and other learning differences. We use games and fun activities to make learning feel more like play.
Learners will be completing assignments in class with their new friends. Homework will be given for additional practice.
2 files available upon enrollmentA downloadable workbook will be assigned in the classroom. Students will be given a challenge to complete for a BIG PRIZE at the end of our 2-week session. I PROMISE this will motivate even the most reluctant reader.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Students will be assessed during an informal first session. If the class is at the right level, no other steps are necessary. If the class is too difficult or too easy, a recommendation will be made. An informal assessment will also be given at the end of the 8-week session with the progress that is made.
1 hour 40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Students will be given additional assignments and websites to utilize as resources.
We will use different platforms such as Education.com, NearPod, Kahoot, and Epic. These can be used outside of the classroom and after the 2-week session is completed. These resources will help students love learning and find joy in reading.
