Description

Class Experience

Students will learn and improve their vocal/singing technique and learn a variety of repertoire.
I have been teaching private voice lessons for over eight years, to students aged 7 to adult. I am an experienced performer myself, with a performance resume ranging from opera and classical singing, musical theatre, theatre, film, and commercials. I greatly enjoy bringing this knowledge to my students. As both a professional singer and actor, I can bring both areas of expertise to my students. I hold two Bachelor of Music degrees in Vocal Performance and Music Therapy and studied classical voice and vocal pedagogy. I also hold a Master of Fine Arts in Performing Arts.
Students are asked to practice each week, about 30 minutes per day. (Too much practice can be tiring and harmful for vocalists.) I understand that many students may have very busy schedules! Therefore, I do not require daily practice and trust singers and families to work together to create a practice schedule that works for them. However, it is important to note that your dedication to practice will correspond with your progress and growth!
I may supply some materials, though students may be asked to purchase sheet music, books of sheet music, and a sight singing book. This will occur depending on the level and interests of each individual student and will be assigned as needed! I will provide direct links or titles to all books and sheet music. Students are asked to provide a device on which to play recorded accompaniments for during lessons. (e.g. phone, tablet, etc.)
30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
YouTube is an optional resource for this class. Sometimes, learners may be asked to utilize YouTube for recorded accompaniment tracks. If so, I will provide the direct link in the classroom to each accompaniment/karaoke YouTube video.
We may refer to various sheet music and books, available to purchase. I will provide links for appropriate sheet music and books, as appropriate! Most books of sheet music will last us for many lessons! We may use YouTube for recorded accompaniments, and I will post links to these accompaniments in the classroom.
