What's included

1 live meeting
30 mins in-class hours per week
Homework
1-2 hours per week. Students are asked to practice each week, about 30 minutes per day. (Too much practice can be tiring and harmful for vocalists.) I understand that many students may have very busy schedules! Therefore, I do not require daily practice and trust singers and families to work together to create a practice schedule that works for them. However, it is important to note that your dedication to practice will correspond with your progress and growth!

Class Experience

One-on-one voice lessons are an exciting step in any singer's journey! I have been teaching private voice lessons for a decade, to students aged 7 to adult. I am an experienced performer myself and greatly enjoy bringing this knowledge to my students. As both a professional singer and actor, I can bring both areas of expertise to my students. I hold two Bachelor of Music degrees in Vocal Performance and Music Therapy and studied classical voice and pedagogy. I also hold a Master of Fine Arts in Performing Arts.

Voice lessons are open to any level, from beginner to advanced. I will adjust my teaching to meet the needs of each individual student. It is always my goal to create a very comfortable and relaxed environment for voice lessons.

By building a strong technical foundation, we can then apply this technique to any style of singing, ranging from musical theatre and Broadway, to classical, to pop, and beyond. I tailor each lesson to every singer's unique strengths and interests. We will select music together that your learner is interested in, and I will also assign new pieces to challenge them and meet their needs as singers. I also like to incorporate reading music and sight singing into my lessons. This is an important skill for any singer.

I am also happy to incorporate acting training into voice lessons, if this is of interest to the learner. It is my belief that in order to communicate effectively as singers, we must combine elements of both art forms together.

I look forward to meeting you and exploring your singing journey together!

***Cancellation Policy***: I must receive at least 48 hours notice for any non-emergency cancellation. Otherwise, the lesson will be charged. When I do receive 48 hours notice (or more) of a cancellation or conflict, I will first offer a make-up class option, if my schedule allows. Please note that once a make-up class time is agreed upon by both myself and the parent/learner, it cannot be rescheduled again (excepting emergency cases). If no make-up time works for both myself and the parent/learner, I will refund the cancelled class, provided that I received the 48 hours of notice. Thank you for your understanding!
Learning Goals
Students will learn and improve their vocal/singing technique and learn a variety of repertoire.

Supply List
I may supply some materials, though students will be asked to purchase sheet music, books of sheet music, and a sight singing book. This will occur depending on the level and interests of each individual student and will be assigned as needed! I will provide direct links or titles to all books and sheet music.

Students are asked to provide a device on which to play recorded accompaniments during lessons. (e.g. phone, tablet, etc.)
External Resources
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
  • Youtube
Sources
We may refer to various sheet music and books, available to purchase. I will provide links for appropriate sheet music and books, as appropriate! Most books of sheet music will last us for many lessons! We may use YouTube for recorded accompaniments, and I will post links to these accompaniments in the classroom.
