This 1:1 summer tutoring class follows a structured, data-driven method grounded in the science of reading. In our first session, I’ll assess your child using DIBELS to identify gaps in decoding, fluency, and comprehension, while also learning about their interests and learning style. We will chat about the results, goals and next steps. You’ll also receive a personalized reading plan with clear, attainable goals designed to keep your child progressing throughout the summer. Summer is a critical time—many students lose valuable skills without consistent practice, a phenomenon known as the summer slide. This class helps prevent regression by reinforcing core reading skills in fun, manageable lessons. Each session includes explicit phonics instruction, spelling and decoding practice, decodable stories, and interactive games tailored to your child’s needs. My lessons are skill-based and intentionally paced for mastery. With a 90% success rate, most students make measurable progress within just a few weeks—this can look like increased fluency, stronger decoding, and more reading confidence. Whether your child is catching up or keeping up, these summer sessions provide the structure, support, and encouragement needed to stay on track and start the new school year strong.
Learning Goals
Strengthen foundational reading skills such as phonemic awareness, decoding, and spelling through explicit, structured phonics instruction.
