In this multi-day class, the student will use a piano method book that we choose together. I often use Piano Adventures by Faber. I welcome Home Schooled students as well.

In this class, the student will use a piano book that we choose together. The class will be structured to go through the book in order of the lessons given and the student will be able to start wherever they've left off previously. My teaching style is very interactive and fun. This will be just an instruction and playing class only with no games. In this class, all beginners and intermediate students are welcome. We will cover proper sitting and hand positions, phrasing, dynamics and their importance, rhythmic awareness, different time signatures and that one song can have several time signatures, basic music symbols, aural awareness, flexibility of fingers in different note patterns, and how to effectively practice more difficult pieces. * In order to serve the needs and abilities of your student, I would recommend my class Piano Readiness Evaluation for Young Children. In this evaluation, which can be for any age actually, I will be able to assess the student's abilities in relation to the book chosen. Thank you.

I have taught children preschool through high school for over 25 years. I have a Bachelor's in Music Education with an emphasis in voice, and have played piano since I was 9 years old. I enjoyed accompanying many of my fellow Music majors for their juries (finals) in college. Knowing the basics gives children the confidence to pursue their favorite instrument and that's an amazing gift.
