Assessment
I will give the parent an assessment at the end of the class or shortly afterwords.

Class Experience

In this one time evaluation, the student will play different exercises and talk about their desire for piano lessons, willingness to practice, and dexterity on the keyboard.
I will be interacting 1:1 with the student in a private class to see whether they have the maturity and finger dexterity to play simple pieces. I will also be checking for attention span and off-task movements. I want to see if the child can maintain attention and focus during a 25 minute period and also remain interested in the material. This class, along with questions to the parents, will help me guide the parent in a decision to have their child take regular piano lessons.
Student will learn: focus on the piano keys and fingering individual keys. Student will learn attention skills, like taking breaks and small exercises with hands and whole body. Student will express their thoughts about music with the teacher.
Learning Goals
1) Maintain focus on the notes given
2) Play different keys and use all 5 fingers in a simple exercise.
3) Converse with the teacher and give their opinions about piano classes.
4) Answer simple questions.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have taught children preschool through high school for over 25 years. I have a Bachelor's in Music Education with an emphasis in voice, and have played piano since I was 9 years old. I enjoyed accompanying many of my fellow Music majors for their juries (finals) in college. Knowing the basics gives children the confidence to pursue their favorite instrument and that's an amazing gift. I am patient and encouraging and love to engage with my students in a very positive way. I look forward to teaching your child.
