I have taught children preschool through high school for over 25 years. I have a Bachelor's in Music Education with an emphasis in voice, and have played piano since I was 9 years old. I enjoyed accompanying many of my fellow Music majors for their juries (finals) in college. Knowing the basics gives children the confidence to pursue their favorite instrument and that's an amazing gift. I am patient and encouraging and love to engage with my students in a very positive way. I look forward to teaching your child.
I would like students to practice 10-15 minutes a day, 5 days a week. This is the only way to progress quickly. I ask that you use a practice sheet to keep track of the time each day.
Practice sheet download:
A piano or keyboard with at least 61 keys. Music for Little Mozarts Music Lesson Book 1 by Christine H. Barden, Gayle Kowalchyk- E.L. Lancaster (required) Music for Little Mozarts Music Workbook, Book 1. (required) Mozart Mouse and Beethoven Bear stuffed animals are fun, but not necessary.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Informal assessment. I will let the parent know how your learner is progressing.
25 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
It is recommended that parents should stay off-camera during learning, as much as possible. This is Outschool's policy.
