Additionally, I am a licensed educator and professional development specialist on addressing different social-emotional themes within written expression.
Homework Offered
Students will have weekly homework where learners will complete written compositions they began in class. Homework should take no more than 2-3 hours per week. The student will be assessed using a writing rubric they will have access to in order to meet the assignment's requirements.

Assessments Offered
Students will be assessed using writing rubrics based upon the genre they use for their writing prompt. Since this class allows students to write about authentic experiences. this means they may bring up personal information that may be sensitive to themselves. No need to worry because I have over 10 years of experience working with students who write about their personal experiences to express themselves within the framework of the curriculum.

Additionally, learners will take stretch breaks to maintain focus and attention. These stretch breaks will include: standing, kneeling, jumping, swinging arms, and basic stretches. Please let the teacher know if your child has any physical needs that must be considered during stretch breaks.
The rubrics and writing tools used are from Lucy Calkin's text: Writing Pathways: Performance Assessments and Learning Progressions (K-8).
