This is a three month session of private individualized tutoring in reading. ***Upon request, the schedule may be adjusted to accommodate a shorter/longer session with more/less meetings per week. The price will also be adjusted accordingly.*** Reading is an absolute, fundamental skill! Therefore, it is imperative to teach children how to read in an engaging and stimulating way so they are not only excited to read but also foster a love for reading that will last into their adult years. This class is ideal for your learner if they are having difficulty with reading and reading has become a daunting task. If your learner is feeling overwhelmed and in need of building skills to increase confidence and reading output, this class will assist in building such skills. Over a the period of three months, we will focus on phonics and fluency simultaneously through a fun learning environment. Our class will meet twice a week and cover the following lesson objectives: phonemic awareness (both blending and segmenting of words), phonological awareness, phonics instruction (CVC/CCVC/CVCC blends as well as digraphs), and numerous phonics rules. Mixed media is highly incorporated in class while implementing a multi-sensory learning approach to engage visual, auditory, tactile and kinesthetic learners. For example, visual reasoning and learning consists of visual teaching methods, student created art and images, PowerPoint slides, posters and flashcards. Auditory techniques include use of YouTube videos, rhymes, language games, peer assisted reading and paired reading. Tactile techniques consists of using various materials to manipulate letters/words. Kinesthetic methods consists of gross motor movements such as singing, clapping or other movements paired with phonic activities. Supplemental documents are provided at no additional costs to assist with weekly learning objectives. This includes, but is not limited to, detailed lesson objectives, materials to reinforce lesson objectives and materials to continue reinforcing each lesson objective throughout the entire semester. Tutoring often extends into repeat sessions as your learner increases reading fluency. As fluency increases, we begin to work on comprehension, spelling, grammar, and test taking skills. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions and I hope to see you in the classroom soon!

Health Equity and Literacy, The Print Project™ brings evidence-based, systematic, high efficacy literacy instruction to learners all throughout the world. We translate research into practice by ensuring equitable education for ALL children with a focus on literacy in ALL content areas.
Literacy is the foundational skill that unlocks the doors to learning all throughout life while paving the way to attaining health equity. Yet, 1 in 4 children grow up without learning to read and significant racial/ethnic and gender achievement gaps persist. In the United States, 43 million adults have low literacy skills and 8.4 million are considered illiterate. Worldwide, 773 million adults are illiterate, and the majority are women.
We are on a mission to change this. In 2017, our founder, Dr. Katharine Hawkes, launched a literacy pilot program targeting children during their most critical years. Today, this program has reached children in 42 countries by making measurable progress in their literacy skills.
Course offerings include our literacy program, English Language Arts courses and courses that integrate literacy into STEM/STEAM preparing youth for futures in science, technology, engineering, and math while fostering their creativity through the arts.
Our courses and instruction are based on equity pedagogy. All instructors are trained in DEI, cultural competence, anti-racism and disability justice. Our classroom environment is inclusive to all learners regardless of gender, identity, race/ethnicity, culture, disability, and socio-economic status.
We wholeheartedly believe in positive reinforcement and we commit to uplifting young minds by providing them space to be seen and heard.
