Class Experience
Does your learner see division as a bore, or a chore? Well, NOT ANYMORE! This is a great course for students who are just beginning to learn division, or those who need some additional practice! Who is this class for? ✅ This Division Class is designed for learners who have never learned division, students who need review of division concepts, or students who have completed my Division Camp but could still use a little practice. ✅ Students who are able to add, subtract, and know their multiplication facts. Knowing multiplication facts is extremely helpful but is NOT required for this course. This class will be a 25 minute, individualized, private, one on one tutoring session with your student. We will learn all about basic division concepts such as: ✅ Vocabulary (dividend, divisor, quotient, etc) ✅ How division relates to multiplication ✅ dividing two-digit numbers by single-digit numbers, with and without remainders ✅ dividing three-digit numbers by single-digit numbers with and without remainders. ⭐ How will the sessions be taught? ⭐ Sessions will consist of clear, step-by-step modeling, guided practice, and reteaching as needed. We will use teacher provided models, interactive slides, and proven strategies to support learning. Students will be given additional time to practice the method independently. Also, at the conclusion of each class, I will send the students an activity sheet filled with more division questions and word problems, should they want to continue working on their division skills. I will guide, instruct, and adapt to your child’s skill level and pace.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to divide numbers via the long division method.
Students will improve their understanding of division.
Students will know the steps to solve a long division problem.

⭐ Teaching Philosophy ⭐
I aim to bring an open mind, a positive attitude, and high expectations to the classroom each day. I am very patient, flexible and kind. I encourage my students to ask questions, take risks and overcome the fear of making mistakes as this is part of the learning process. All levels are welcome (we will start from scratch if need be).
⭐ Hobbies ⭐
In my free time I enjoy reading, looking for shark teeth (I currently have a collection of more than 10,000 teeth!), and photography. I live on Folly Beach and my favorite shots to shoot are of surfers here on the island. Surf photography is a huge passion of mine! I also love my pups, Jessie and Remi. They're both Chocolate Labs. My biggest passion and focus right now is my nonprofit, Project Z of the Lowcountry where we provide beds to children who don't have a bed of their own at home. It feels odd to be out of the classroom but doing Project Z full time has been such a blessing! I hope to connect with you and your family so that I can get a little teaching back in my life. I'll always be a teacher at heart!
